Among the many fine points on which new light is shed in this new Bible-study aid is the proper application of 1 Peter 3:21, which reads, in part: “That which corresponds to this is also now saving you, namely, baptism.” What is the baptism to which this refers? What is the salvation? Is it being saved at Armageddon?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. January 1, 1967 p. 29
God’s Messianic kingdom had been born in the heavens at the close of the Gentile Times in 1914, and the “penny” paid to the vineyard laborers was the privilege and honor of serving as anointed ambassadors of God’s newborn Messianic kingdom from that time on till the coming “battle of the great day of God the Almighty” at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. January 15, 1967 p. 56
But today Armageddon is coming, which cannot be far away, since the 1914 generation will not pass away before it comes! No question about it, time is running out! Is it not fitting, then, that we have much to do as Armageddon gets closer?—John 9:4; Matt. 24:34.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. January 15, 1967 p. 62
Overtime secular work frequently crowds out attendance at the congregation meetings, because fear of displeasing their employer is stronger than their fear of displeasing God. They may have a token share in the field ministry because they know it is a Christian requirement, but their principal efforts are channeled into other interests. What will be their position when Armageddon strikes?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. February 1, 1967 p. 76
Eventually the Justice of the Peace pulled out the fourth volume of the Studies in the Scriptures, entitled “The Battle of Armageddon,” and said he had read it and found nothing wrong with it. They decided to let us go. We were thankful to Jehovah to continue in the service during those trying times.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. February 1, 1967 p. 94
In the above-quoted lecture given in 1942 the speaker said:
“ . . . Suddenly those ten horns and the beast will go into perdition, not peacefully, but violently, at the battle of Armageddon. This time the beast and its heads and horns will go, not into the ‘bottomless pit,’ but into the ‘lake of fire and brimstone,’ to be utterly consumed and destroyed.—Rev. 19:20; 20:10.”
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. February 15, 1967 p. 122
Unless such ones come back to Jehovah and turn to the knowledge of God, they will be cut down as in a harvest when Jehovah cleanses the earth of all wickedness at the battle of Armageddon The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. March 1, 1967 p. 143
With Armageddon drawing on apace, more than ever before it is true that only those who ‘call on the name of Jehovah will be saved.’
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. March 1, 1967 p. 158
So let us be diligent to let as many people as possible hear through our preaching in the few short
remaining years before Armageddon, and to do so in imitation of the apostle Paul!
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. March 1, 1967 p. 159
While Jesus did not specifically have in mind persons living at the end of this system of things who might survive Armageddon, it is true that some alive now will never experience a fleshly death. But even those with earthly hopes who live through Armageddon will have to prove faithful throughout the millennium and the final test before they actually “come to life” or receive the grant of everlasting life.—Rev. 20:5.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. March 1, 1967 p. 160
They are known as the remnant of Christ’s spiritual brothers, but, being faithful through the fight, they will be accredited with a share in the conquest. Here we have added proof, assurance, that a remnant of Christ’s spiritual brothers will survive Armageddon in the flesh and will for a while be in the flesh on earth in the new order after the battle. Alongside them will be the “great crowd” of persons who serve with them.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. March 15, 1967 p. 185
Thus, instead of having to taste the bitter contrast between life and destruction when that great city is destroyed, or at Armageddon, you can come now into the loving favor and protection of Abraham’s God, Jehovah.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 1, 1967 p. 218, 219
The Apocalypse or book of Revelation unmistakably lines up the battle of Armageddon as taking place before Satan is bound and cast into the bottomless pit or abyss.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 236
The Apocalypse or book of Revelation unmistakably lines up the battle of Armageddon as taking place before Satan is bound and cast into the bottomless pit or abyss. The Bible account describes Satan the Devil as having a direct part in gathering the nations to that battlefield, saying that out of the mouth of the Dragon Satan the Devil an unclean spirit comes forth and joins the unclean spirits out of the mouths of the beast and the false prophet in going to the kings of the whole earth and gathering them to the battle of the great day of God the Almighty, which is to be fought at Armageddon. Now is when those three spirits of devils from those three sources are going to the earthly rulers. Now is when those rulers and their armies are on the march to Armageddon, as we have so frequently been warned by prominent men. Logically, then, the Dragon Satan the Devil could not now be bound and be in the bottomless pit unable to seduce the nations any more, if the unclean spirit out of his mouth is joining in the gathering of the earthly rulers and their armies to Armageddon.—Rev. 16:13-16, Dy.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 236
29. Where does the Revelation locate the battle of Armageddon, and what, in that connection, proves whether the Dragon Satan the Devil is yet bound and in the bottomless pit?
30. (a) What respecting Satan’s earthly political tools argues that he is not yet sealed up in the pit? (b) What will happen to those political tools at Armageddon, and when will Satan join them there?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 236
The Apocalypse or Revelation, chapter nineteen, describes the battle of Armageddon on God’s great day, and the chapter locates it just before the binding of Satan and the casting of him into the bottomless pit or abyss.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 237
So, then, just as the battle of Armageddon is yet future, the binding and casting of Satan into the bottomless pit is future, for these acts follow the battle of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 237
DOES the destruction of Babylon the Great and the battle of Armageddon mean wiping out the human race?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 237
In answer the Holy Bible strongly indicates that a remnant of these heavenly Kingdom heirs will be preserved through the war of Armageddon for earthly service before their earthly demise and their resurrection and glorification in the heavens. Also, a “great crowd” of dedicated, baptized Christian companions will survive Armageddon with them.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 237, 238
1. (a) What does the Bible indicate as to whether the battle of Armageddon will leave all earth without inhabitant? (b) Who will be the first subjects over whom Christ will reign during the millennium?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 237
The Apocalypse or book of Revelation itself shows that there will be human survivors of the war of Armageddon and the imprisoning of Satan in the abyss.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 238
Certain prominent persons of today will not survive the destruction of Babylon the Great and the destruction of the earthly kings and their armies and supporters in the war of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 238
3. How did Jesus, at Matthew 24:21, 22, 37-39, strongly indicate that there would be survivors of the battle of Armageddon?
4. What state of affairs will make it fitting that Christ step in and begin governing the survivors of Armageddon?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 238
Only after the war of Armageddon destroys the “wild beast” and its political “image” will peace and security be ushered in, and that for a thousand years.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 240
If now, during these war-torn years of this “conclusion of the system of things,” such an ideal condition can obtain among Christ’s true followers, how much more will this peaceful condition prevail without interference among the survivors after the battle of Armageddon removes the earthly rulers and their armies and after Satan and his demons are sealed up in the abyss! Those who survive the battle of Armageddon and the abyssing of Satan will start out with absolute peace, and the heavenly kingdom of Christ and his glorified congregation will preserve that peace on earth for a thousand years.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 240, 241
14. (a) With what condition will survivors of Armageddon and Satan’s abyssing start out, and how long will this continue? (b) What work will take the lead in all human activities, and with what result?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 240
The priests of Christendom have misrepresented God’s High Priest, Jesus Christ. They will disappear from the earth when Babylon the Great is destroyed just prior to Armageddon. Afterward Christ’s resurrected congregation in heaven will do lifesaving priestly work with him.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 241, 242
By that time both those who survive the battle of Armageddon and who need no resurrection and those who will be resurrected to life on earth will, if obedient, be lifted to the fullness of perfect human life.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. April 15, 1967 p. 242
It shows we are facing the day for the expression of God’s wrath against all wickedness in the battle at what the Bible calls “Armageddon.” Following that war will be the glorious thousand- year reign of Jesus Christ. (Rev. 16:16; 20:4-6)
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. May 1, 1967 p. 259
Without doubt, then, there is a precise time for the war of Armageddon to be fought and also a set time for the peaceful thousand-year reign of Christ to begin.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. May 1, 1967 p. 259, 260
Ours is a most critical generation. Bible chronology and prophecies agree on this fact. We who live today stand at the threshold of Armageddon, God’s war in which the wicked will be wiped off the earth.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. May 1, 1967 p. 261
They tell us what Satan the Devil already knows, namely, that we stand at the threshold of Armageddon, that his wicked rule is about to end, that ‘God’s kingdom come’ will soon be a reality for the earth.—Rev. 12:12.

FALL OF FALSE RELIGION NOT ARMAGEDDON
The war that will accomplish such a wonderful thing is described in the Bible and is titled “Har– Magedon” (Armageddon).
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 406, 407
At Armageddon the rulers of earth are not shown as gathering at the Euphrates but, from the name Har–Magedon, seem to be at Megiddo, which is located more than 500 miles west of Babylon. (Rev. 16:14, 16)
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 407
Therefore, the destruction of Babylon the Great is no part of Armageddon but the battle of Har– Magedon immediately follows it.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 407
The ones slaughtered at Armageddon are shown as being left as food for the carrion-eating birds of the heavens.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 407, 408
At Armageddon the “false prophet” will be proven false. He has claimed always to fight only a just war, and falsely called World War I the war to end all wars.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 408
Yes, the war of Armageddon will clear the earth of the enemies of God and man.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 1, 1967 p. 410
In the eyes of the remnant and the “great crowd” of people who have joined the remnant in preaching the good news of the Kingdom, the antitypical religious leaders are already without power and influence, they are dead, and it is only a matter of a short time until Jesus Christ, who holds regal power, will bring about the total extermination of all his enemies on earth in the battle of Armageddon.

The sacrifice of Christ therefore lays the foundation for the great crowd of Jesus’ “other sheep” also to be delivered at Armageddon from this world under the control of the greater Pharaoh Satan the Devil, with opportunity of everlasting life on earth.—Ex. 12:37-39, 42; 1 Cor. 5:8; Rev. 7:9; John 10:16.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 15, 1967 p. 437
As a result of this preaching work “a great crowd, which no man was able to number,” has come to join them, “out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues.” (Rev. 7:9) They are harvested, gathered to Jehovah’s temple class, as represented by the remnant, to be protected during the coming war of Armageddon
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 15, 1967 p. 441, 442
In our previous issue we discussed the war of Har–Magedon (Armageddon), which takes place after false religion has been wiped out by the political rulers and which war, in turn, wipes out all politics on earth and those who stubbornly hang on, trying to perpetuate man’s sovereignty. Although the “wild beast,” representing the political organization of earth, got its authority from the Dragon (Rev. 13:2), the Dragon is unable to back it up and support it for success and salvation in the war of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. July 15, 1967 p. 444, 445
We can appreciate that not every member of the 144,000 will be in the heavens at the start of the thousand-year reign, for there will be a small remnant on the earth who survive Armageddon and who remain on earth for an unstated time.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 1, 1967 p. 455
Some brothers today who have been in the truth for a number of years may begin to show a discontented spirit similar to that shown by the Israelites of Moses’ day. For many years they have been telling their friends and neighbors that the battle of Armageddon is very close. No doubt they have gone to the same houses time after time with the message of God’s kingdom. Now, however, they feel that Armageddon should come quickly and they begin to feel impatient because God does not immediately destroy all wickedness. They begin to utter words of complaint.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 1, 1967 p. 464
Yes, Jehovah is merciful and abundant in loving-kindness, and any time that he permits before he destroys the wicked at Armageddon is a wonderful expression of his love and patience.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 1, 1967 p. 465
And even as Ehud and his army destroyed Eglon’s army, so at Armageddon Jesus Christ and his heavenly forces will destroy all the oppressors of God’s people on earth, bringing in peace and establishing the pure worship of Jehovah throughout the earth for a long, long time, in fact, forever.—Rev. 16:14, 16; 2 Pet. 3:13.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 1, 1967 p. 478
The time will come when circumstances will no longer permit a successful flight, namely, at the destruction of Babylon the Great and the succeeding war of Armageddon.—Rev. 16:14 to 17:18. The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 15, 1967 p. 502, 503
As regards the Armageddon survivors, Jesus Christ will cease to function in their behalf as high priest when the thousand years of his royal rule have ended and all men will have been brought to human perfection on earth.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 15, 1967 p. 503
18. What does it mean to stay in the city of refuge until the high priest dies, (a) for the heavenly class? (b) for the Armageddon survivors?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 15, 1967 p. 503
This population may have been contributed to by those of the “great crowd” of Armageddon survivors who marry or are already married and who for some time after the end of this wicked system raise families, as Noah’s children did after the global flood.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. August 15, 1967 p. 506
Let us, therefore, not as making a prophecy, but merely for the purpose of illustrating the point, start our calculation with the figure of a million Armageddon survivors.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 1, 1967 p. 524
For the “great crowd” of Armageddon survivors and those dead in Hades and the sea, the final determination of their future will be made by their obedience to the things written in the scrolls during the thousand years and by their successfully passing the test at its end.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 1, 1967 p. 525
If we follow that reasoning we will find ourselves to be willful sinners against God and fighting against him at the time that he annihilates all his earthly enemies along with the “wild beast” and “false prophet” at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 1, 1967 p. 526
This will include our loved ones who will come back and whom we can assist to make progress on the pathway to life. Let us, then, equip ourselves in full, helping as many as possible now to be of that “great crowd” who survive Armageddon and then having the indescribable joy of being part of God’s reception organization who will welcome back from the dead our loved ones and others.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 1, 1967 p. 526
For this reason the Bridegroom fights the battle of Armageddon, thoroughly crushing out all earthly enemies and then defeating Satan and his wicked demons.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 15, 1967 p. 567
Well, those then on earth are living alright, having survived the battle of Armageddon, but they are not perfect; they still have the Adamic inheritance of sin; they would die in time. Armageddon has not changed their bodies, although it has vanquished their enemies.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 15, 1967 p. 568
The murderers, the fornicators or sexually immoral, those who follow Babylon the Great in practicing spiritism, sorcery and magic, the idolaters, including those who worship the symbolic “wild beast” and its modern-day “image,” and the liars who imitate the Devil “the father of the lie”—this kind do not conquer the world and will be destroyed at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 15, 1967 p. 571
See the book You May Survive Armageddon into God’s New World, chapter 6, entitled “A·do·nay’ comes to His Temple.” Published by the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society in 1955.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 1, 1967 p. 590
Hundreds of thousands who Were lying in a death state in their sins and under divine condemnation have been raised to a happy life in Jehovah’s service, with the bright prospect of everlasting life under the Kingdom after this present system is destroyed at Armageddon. This gathering work has been intensified since 1942. During that crucial year of World War II incomplete reports showed upward of 106,000 persons proclaiming the good news.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 1, 1967 p. 596
The theocratic pace of activity is still increasing. What Jehovah will yet require of his faithful servants on earth before Armageddon he will reveal in due time. Staying close to his visible theocratic organization is the only way to find out.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 1, 1967 p. 597
However, let us never forget that for release from Babylon to mean safety, protection and life, more is required than merely to sever one’s connections with Babylon the Great. Ever so many persons have done that and yet will be destroyed at Armageddon when Jehovah wipes out the commercial and political paramours of Great Babylon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 1, 1967 p. 606, 607
The end of this system of things is drawing on apace! All those destroyed with Babylon the Great or later at Armageddon cannot hope for a resurrection.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 1, 1967 p. 607
He is marking you either for preservation to “inherit the kingdom prepared for you,” or for destruction at the fast-approaching battle of Armageddon. What you must do to be among the great crowd of mankind rescued out of Armageddon you can learn by examining the following article.—Matt. 25:31-46.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 616
Rescuing a Great Crowd of Mankind Out of Armageddon
“These are the ones that come out of the great tribulation.”—Rev. 7:14.
ARMAGEDDON, threatening though the name may sound, does not mean the wiping out of the race of mankind. The approaching war of Armageddon is, in reality, the forerunner of the happiest time for mankind in all human history. That is why a constantly increasing “great
crowd” of people today is looking forward eagerly to the coming of this universal war of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 617
Armageddon is not something that we have imagined or invented. Armageddon, as the name of a battlefield, is more than eighteen hundred and seventy years old. The name occurs only once in a book of hundreds of pages that was completed just about that many years ago.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 617
1. Why is a growing crowd of people looking forward eagerly to the coming of the war of Armageddon?
2. Why is Armageddon not something we have imagined, and why can we not lightly put it out of mind?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 617
Let no one scoff at the thought of going to the Bible for answers to modern-day questions.
Scoffing will not turn aside the war of Armageddon about which the Bible speaks.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 620
But where is it that the demonized inspired expressions lead these rulers at the head of their armies? It is to a place or a situation that the Hebrew Christian, the apostle John, calls Har– Magedon (or, according to some translations, Armageddon).
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 621
For whom will it be a great day? Not for these kings and their armies, but for God the Almighty! And because the war is waged at Armageddon, it is often called the war or battle of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 621
Beyond all question of doubt, the kings and their armies are lining up to present a united front against God the Almighty at Armageddon. God’s own Book, the Holy Bible, says that it is against him and his Son, earth’s future King, that all earthly rulers, their armies and their supporters fight at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 621
That is the final war of Armageddon, according to inspired Bible prophecy.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622
The destruction of the opposers of God’s kingdom there at Armageddon will include not just the kings or rulers and their armies.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622
In the light of that prophetic revelation, do we appreciate the seriousness of what is ahead? That coming war of Armageddon means the climax of a time of trouble such as never has afflicted mankind before.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622
There will be no escape for the present system of things and for those who support it. Is it any wonder that there is dire need for persons to be rescued out of Armageddon?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622
Jesus Christ, now resurrected from his sacrificial death and glorified in the heavens, is commissioned to fight that war of Armageddon. There this once sacrificed “Lamb of God” will prove himself to be King of kings and Lord of lords, for no earthly kings and lords will be able to stand against him and win. (John 1:29, 36; Rev. 17:14) As God’s greatest Prophet he foretold this war of Armageddon, for God used him nineteen hundred years ago to deliver the Revelation that contains the name and description of Armageddon. (Rev. 1:1; 22:16, 20)
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622, 623
23. How will the “great evening meal of God” be provided at Armageddon, and by means of whom will God be vindicated, and in what respect?
24. (a) What kind of conflict are the nations trying to avoid today? (b) Why is there dire need for persons to be rescued out of Armageddon?
25, 26. (a) At Armageddon who will prove to be King of kings and Lord of lords, and how? (b) With what warning did he foretell this time of tribulation and its climax, in Matthew 24:19-39?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 622
Besides that, three days before his sacrificial death outside the walls of Jerusalem, he foretold this present period of world tribulation and its grand climax at Armageddon and called it an unequaled trouble.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
Hence more human lives are threatened, for, like the flood of Noah’s day, the war of Armageddon will affect the whole earth.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
At Armageddon Jehovah God will fight by means of his Warrior Jesus Christ against his enemies, against the friends of this misguided world, not against his own friends.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
Will there, then, be survivors on earth of the war of the great day of God the Almighty at Armageddon?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
Jesus Christ compared the days of his second presence and of his coming to the War of Armageddon to the days of Noah in connection with the Flood.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
27. As to loss of human life, how do the flood of Noah’s day and the war of Armageddon compare?
28. Will the killing off of people at Armageddon be indiscriminate?
29. (a) Jesus’ comparison of the days of his second presence with the days of Noah indicates hope of what survival? (b) Why will the war of Armageddon remain without equal as a human catastrophe?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 623
The coming war of Armageddon will be worse than that flood or any other trouble or tribulation “since the world’s beginning until now.” There will never occur again a tribulation like it, because there will be no need for it. As in Noah’s day, any humans surviving the war of Armageddon will have to be rescued out of it. Some will be!
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 624
The Bible is not joking. The worldly scoffers of this present system of things are doomed, for human society is facing Armageddon, “the war of the great day of God the Almighty.” Persons who take the standpoint of the Bible and watch what is going on in the world can clearly see that all earthly kings and their armies are on the march to Armageddon, in defiance of Jehovah God and his Christ, “the King of kings.”
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 624
That miraculous rescue of the Gibeonites was prophetic of the modern-day rescue of a “great crowd” of survivors out of the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at Armageddon.
(1 Cor. 10:11; Isa. 28:21, 22) The only book in the Bible that names Armageddon describes also the earthly survivors of the world’s greatest tribulation as a “great crowd.” Just as those ancient Gibeonites, so all those in that “great crowd” need to do something to be rescued from destruction at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 626
No less so, those who desire to be among the “great crowd” of Armageddon survivors need to take advantage of the present favorable time for entering into peaceful, friendly relations with the One who was foreshadowed by Joshua of ancient time, who acts as the great Executioner for Jehovah God.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 627
When he was revealing in advance the marching of the kings and their armies to Armageddon, this Greater Joshua, Jesus Christ, gave us this warning: “Look! I am coming as a thief. Happy is the one that stays awake and keeps his outer garments, that he may not walk naked and people look upon his shamefulness.” (Rev. 16:15) His coming to the war of Armageddon will take the world by surprise, as the Flood took unobserving people in Noah’s day by surprise.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 627
At the present time before Armageddon this “great crowd” must serve Jehovah God in
connection with his spiritual temple, of which the Lamb Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone. The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 628
They know that earthly rulers and their armies cannot give them life everlasting, and can in no way protect them from extermination along with worldly rulers and armies at Armageddon. They do not want the carrion birds to pick their bones of their dead bodies on the battlefield of Armageddon. They are full of faith that God, by means of his Greater Joshua, Jesus Christ, can protect them through Armageddon’s war, just as he did the Gibeonites in Joshua’s day.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 628
Those who hail the enthroned Jehovah God as their Savior through his Lamb Jesus Christ look to Him to rescue them out of Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 629
The name “the great tribulation” well applies to this time of tribulation that has been upon mankind since the year of the outbreak of World War I, to wit, 1914, and that will mount up to its highest destructiveness in the war of Armageddon, completely exterminating this worldly system of things.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 629
As in the case of the Gibeonites, there is no time to delay. The threatening situation calls for God-fearing action now, not before a third world war could break out, but before the “great day of God the Almighty” comes like a thief and the war of that great day breaks out at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 629
Come out to an earth in which fear and selfishness will not prevail, but the survivors rescued out of Armageddon will love and help one another as brothers and sisters, adopted by the Lamb of God as their Eternal Father. (Isa. 9:6) Come out to an earth that these Armageddon survivors will begin restoring from its ruin and transforming thus delightfully into a paradise everywhere under the blessing of God’s heavenly kingdom!
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 629
What a time of ecstasy those Armageddon survivors will experience when they begin to receive back the dead to opportunities for eternal life in an earthly paradise under God’s kingdom! Certainly this will redound to God’s endless praise by Jesus Christ. It will justify God as having righteously brought this necessary calamity of Armageddon for his own vindication and for deliverance of all mankind.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 629, 630
Dear Reader, is it worthwhile being rescued out of Armageddon? Do you as a lover of life answer Yes? Then join in this lifesaving work of helping people to the side of God’s kingdom. It is work that leads to rescuing a great crowd out of Armageddon!

12. (a) Likewise, what must those who want to be among the “great crowd” now do? (b) What warning with reference to his coming to the war of Armageddon did the Greater Joshua give? The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. October 15, 1967 p. 627
20. Against whom is God’s war of Armageddon, and what do the “great crowd” expect him to do there respecting them?

24. What time of ecstasy will the “great crowd” of Armageddon survivors experience with regard to the dead?

In other words, the flowing here pictured does not begin until after the war of Armageddon and the abyssing of Satan have done away with all enemies of God both in heaven and in earth and the old system of things now controlling this earth is gone.

He knows what perfect humans need, and we can be certain he will provide for all the needs of his “children of the resurrection,” as well as the Armageddon survivors.

20. What is it that the enemies keep doing since 1914, so that Jehovah must arise against them at Armageddon?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 653
He must arise against them in battle. This he will do at the battlefield of Armageddon. In the meantime the enemy nations continue to block the progress of God’s people as they work at advancing the earthly interests of God’s kingdom.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 654
Since 1914 the Gentile nations have refused to recognize the end of the “appointed times of the nations” and have resisted being made the footstool of the reigning Son of David. But their stubborn resistance will prove to be in vain at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 654
This mandatory “saying” includes also the serving of notice on them before He arises against them at Armageddon. Has this notice been served?
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 654
The reported facts prove that. In April of this year of 1967 there were all around the globe 1,154,079 serving notice concerning God’s kingdom and announcing His deeds in his victorious march to Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 655
At Armageddon, when Jehovah God rises up against them as at Mount Perazim and at Gibeon, he will utterly destroy them by means of his exalted Royal Stone, Jesus Christ.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 659
In this connection we must remember that from 1918 onward till Armageddon God cut short the days of the tribulation upon the worldly nations and kingdoms.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 659
Jehovah God will perform no “saving acts” for his enemies. He will arise against them at Armageddon, to break their heads in pieces, to break the hairy crown of those who are guilty before him and who keep on adding to their guilt. At the destruction of religious Babylon the Great and in the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at Armageddon these enemies will try to escape to places high and low, hiding in places seemingly beyond reach of anybody.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 660
Already in these exciting times before the war of Armageddon the stubborn, unyielding enemies have seen the victory processions of Jehovah’s people.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 660
Ah, but what a victory procession there should be world wide after Jehovah arises against his enemies at the battlefield of Armageddon and gains his greatest victory of all time! O how the favored survivors of the war of Armageddon will celebrate his eternal victory with song and music, blessing him who is the Source of life of his people!
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 661
REBUKES FOR ALL BRINGING NO GIFTS BEFORE ARMAGEDDON
The years remaining now before God arises against his enemies at Armageddon are critical years, making very advisable a right decision on the part of everyone. Rebukes will be administered at Armageddon, and for one to be rebuked there will mean one’s destruction.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 661
The mighty rulers of the earth, like the “wild beast of the reeds,” the hippopotamus, or like the “assembly of bulls,” with their subjects following them like “calves of the peoples,” will be rebuked by Jehovah God at Armageddon, because they offer him no “pieces of silver” as tribute but keep “stamping down” that which belongs to him. They “delight in fights” with him and his faithful worshipers.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 662
To this very day he has given strength and might to his remnant of spiritual Israel and to their dedicated earthly companions to do what he has commanded them to do as his witnesses during these perilous days before Armageddon. To him we must give, to him we must ascribe the strength for what we ourselves have been able to accomplish because of the marvelous victories that he has given us.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 662, 663
At Armageddon he will display his omnipotence above men and devils, to vindicate his universal sovereignty. Ought we not to bless him as God? Yes, both now and forevermore!”
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 1, 1967 p. 663
Hence it is a published fact that since the year 1935 the Christian “fishers of men” began concentrating their attention on those whom God will make heirs of the earthly paradise. To these the possibility was held out of being protected during the coming final war of Armageddon and surviving into the righteous new order on earth under God’s celestial kingdom.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 15, 1967 p. 695
Its close will be marked by the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at Armageddon, where any “unsuitable” fish on hand will be destroyed as in a “fiery furnace.” (Rev. 16:14-16) The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. November 15, 1967 p. 697
We can be sure that he will have all his “fish” caught who become his dedicated, baptized disciples, before all the unsuitable creatures of the sea of humanity are cast into the “fiery
furnace” at Armageddon, and the faithful, enduring “fishers of men” are rewarded with life- giving privileges in God’s new order under his heavenly kingdom of peace and happiness.

A combined total of 463,658 attended the public talk “Rescuing a Great Crowd of Mankind Out of Armageddon” featured at these assemblies, and 6,878 new ministers symbolized their dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism.

SO YOU want life! You can sense that this whole system of things is headed for its Armageddon end, and you do not want to die.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 1, 1967 p. 707
In describing all the vision, the apostle John speaks of the “great tribulation” as being still future, also of the destruction of Babylon the Great and the fighting of the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at the place called Armageddon as still future from his day. (Rev. 16:13 to 19:21)
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 15, 1967 p. 750
But Jesus Christ now actually sits on Jehovah’s real throne, at Jehovah’s right hand, and from there in heaven he now reigns in the midst of his enemies and will reign for a thousand years after the war of Armageddon and the binding of Satan and his demons. (Heb. 1:1-4; 10:12, 13; Rev. 3:21, 7; 5:5) He is mightier than all previous kings of King David’s line.

What a joy-inspiring addition or enlargement to the good news now to be preached! Now has come the victorious kingdom of our God together with the authority of his Christ, his Messiah! As for Satan the Devil and his demons, they have only a short period of time until they are bound and imprisoned in the abyss after the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 15, 1967 p. 753
There is great urgency inherent in that word “first.” Why? Because since the close of the Gentile Times in 1914 and since the adoption of the League of Nations and later the United Nations for world peace and security instead of accepting God’s kingdom peaceably, “all the nations” are marching to the “war of the great day of God the Almighty,” at Armageddon.—Rev. 16:13-17.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 15, 1967 p. 755
The nations must be made to know in advance not only of the coming destruction but also of the direction from which and the agency by which the everlasting destruction comes upon all the political nations at Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 15, 1967 p. 755
At least, the good news would be heralded, let give ear to it and accept it whoever will, or let turn a deaf ear and reject it whoever will. At least all the nations would be given the witness. Never should they be able to say that the “good news” never came their way in this “time of the end” before Armageddon.
The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. December 15, 1967 p. 756
In order that disciples may continue to be made before religious Babylon the Great (including antitypical Jerusalem, Christendom) is destroyed and the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” is fought at Armageddon, the Christian teaching work with the Bible must go on.

Then there was the man who told me about reading seven volumes by Charles T. Russell of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He told how, when the books were banned, he used to go out into the woods and read for hours. What specially interested him was one entitled “The Battle of Armageddon.”

An accurate knowledge of God’s purposes as set out in the Bible helped me to understand so many of the puzzling things that I had experienced, the cold and narrow-minded people I had encountered in youth, the army chaplains who advocated killing, the mysteries of spiritism and the passenger with his dilemma about Armageddon.
